When you work on the computer all day, one of the most difficult things to do is to get away from the computer, step outside, and enjoy a nice walk around the block. Although, getting outside for a midday stroll is probably one of the best things that you can do for yourself if you spend a lot of time in front of a screen. Below, are some of the reasons why getting outside during the workday is a great idea:
Walking Boosts Your Metabolism
Moving around increases your metabolism so that all sorts of bodily functions work better than they did before. An increased metabolism also means that when you eat a piece of carrot cake, you will be able to burn it off more quickly than you would have been able to burn it off with a slower metabolism. More walking, therefor, equals more carrot cake for you!
Walking Improves Eyesight?
Okay, so here’s how we came to that conclusion. Walking improves circulation, yes, but what we’re getting at is how walking takes you away from staring at a computer screen. Staring at a computer screen, because the screen is so close to the eyeballs, can cause a person to lose their longer distance vision, over time. But with practice looking into the distance (while on a walk and looking at the mountains, for example), a person can have the benefits of maintained vision health. More walking means more carrot cake and better vision!
Walking Improves Creativity
Sometimes, a change of scenery is exactly what you need to experience in order to shift your thinking and become more creative. Staring at a screen, although it’s colorful and it has moving pictures on it, can be creatively draining. Change up your pace and get outside for a walk. You will be astounded by your newly found ability to eat loads of carrot cake, your improved distance sight, and your superhero creativity!
